Quick Free Games to Play When Bored at Work
Six free browser games for a short break: rounds of about 30 seconds to five minutes, a pause button or no timer, and sound you can leave off. Here is how each one handles rounds, sound, pause and saving.
The quickest free games to play when bored at work on CozyWorld are Carrot Pop (about 30 seconds a round), Pillowcloud Drift (about a minute a route), Ghost Parade (under two minutes a night), and Mossy Stack, Book Nook Shuffle and Pie Perfect (a few minutes at most). All six run in a browser, and none needs an account.
Each one was chosen for three things its page states: a round of about five minutes or less, a pause button or no timer at all, and sound that is optional. Round lengths are the pages’ estimates, so a round may run shorter or longer for you.
Many workplaces have rules about playing games, so read the short note near the end before you open a tab.
Featured CozyWorld Games
Start with these free browser games if you want a cozy session without a download or an account. Each card says what kind of play it is, so you can pick the one that fits your mood.
Thirty-second reaction rounds
Carrot Pop
Tap orange carrots across nine garden holes, leave the purple moles alone and gather 20 carrots before four mistakes. A round is about 30 seconds, and nothing is saved.
Quick signpost routing
Ghost Parade
Flip signposts so each costumed ghost floats to the cottage that matches its costume, across 12 neighborhoods. A night lasts under two minutes, and the toolbar pause stops the parade.
One-minute sky flights
Pillowcloud Drift
Steer Naps the sleepy cloud up the night sky, gather moon crumbs and dodge storms. A route takes about a minute, and pause freezes the sky and every hazard.
One-button stacking
Mossy Stack
Tap to drop swinging mossy logs onto an endless tower. There is no timer, and a tower takes 1 to 4 minutes.
Calm sorting puzzles
Book Nook Shuffle
Turn four books at once to put every book on its shelf, across 36 puzzles. There is no clock or turn limit, undo is free, and a puzzle takes 1 to 4 minutes.
Fair-share pie slicing
Pie Perfect
Swipe straight cuts across a pie so every plate gets a fair slice, across 30 orders. There is no timer, undo and hints are free, and an order takes 1 to 5 minutes.
Rounds that end fast, and games you can stop any time
Three of the six end on their own within a couple of minutes. A Carrot Pop round is about 30 seconds and ends when you gather 20 carrots or make a fourth mistake. A Pillowcloud Drift route takes about a minute and ends at the Bedtime Moon, or sooner if three bumps or an empty dream wake Naps. A Ghost Parade night lasts under two minutes and ends when every ghost has arrived somewhere. These three play in real time, so each has a pause button: the toolbar pause in Carrot Pop, and in Ghost Parade it stops the parade at any time. In Pillowcloud Drift, pause freezes the sky, the dream meter and every moving hazard.
The other three have no clock. Mossy Stack says there is no timer, and you can let a log pass and drop it on the next swing. Book Nook Shuffle has no clock or turn limit, and undo is free. Pie Perfect has no timer and no limit on tries, and undo, Clear and hints cost nothing. Their estimates run from 1 to 5 minutes, and each also has a toolbar pause.
A caution: Carrot Pop’s page says it needs visual target recognition and timed reactions, and Mossy Stack calls itself a visual timing game. If you want no time pressure at all, pick Book Nook Shuffle or Pie Perfect.
Playing with the sound off
Every page describes sound as optional. Carrot Pop says sound is not needed to identify targets. Ghost Parade and Pie Perfect say sound is optional and never needed to play. In Pillowcloud Drift, every crumb, ring, bump, warning and finish has a visible cue, and sound can stay muted. Mossy Stack has optional sound and pause in the toolbar, and Book Nook Shuffle’s optional sounds use the shared mute control.
The toolbar across the top of each game has the sound control next to pause, restart, help and fullscreen, as in the Mossy Stack screenshot below.
Picking up where you left off
Saving differs a lot between these six, so check before you start something you may be pulled away from. Pie Perfect is the one that keeps your place mid-order: it saves best stars, open courses and the pie on the counter with the cuts you have made, on your device. Book Nook Shuffle saves ribbons, best turns and open puzzles in this browser on this device, but a puzzle in progress starts over if you leave the page.
Ghost Parade saves open neighborhoods, nights finished and your best night in each, but a night in progress is not saved. Pillowcloud Drift saves stars, best scores and open routes in the browser’s local storage, and a route in progress is not saved. Mossy Stack saves your best height, streak and score in this browser, and a run in progress is not saved. Carrot Pop saves nothing, so reloading starts at the ready screen.
For the games where a round in progress is not saved, the rounds are short enough that finishing one is usually easier than resuming it.
Check your workplace rules first
Many workplaces have rules about playing games on work devices or during work time, and some block game sites altogether. Check your employer’s policy, and ask if it is unclear. If games are not allowed on work equipment, you can play them on your own phone or computer during a lunch or scheduled break. Nothing on these pages changes the rules where you work.
Quick Picks
Start with the one that matches what you need right now. Each pick is free in your browser.

Choosing between these games
These six were chosen because each page states a round of about five minutes or less, a pause button or no timer, and optional sound. The list is a selection for variety, not a ranking. Round lengths are estimates from the pages, so allow a little extra on your first few tries while you learn the rules.
Look elsewhere if you want to play with other people: none of the six pages describe shared play. Look elsewhere too if you want a game that keeps a half-finished round, since only Pie Perfect saves the board you are working on. If you want something with a long story, these quick games are the wrong shape.
The three real-time games ask for quick reactions or timing, so choose Book Nook Shuffle or Pie Perfect when you want to take your time.

Which One Should You Play First?
For the shortest break, start with Carrot Pop: a round is about 30 seconds. Ghost Parade and Pillowcloud Drift are the other quick real-time picks, and Mossy Stack is the one-button game with no timer.
For a break with no time pressure, choose Book Nook Shuffle or Pie Perfect. Pie Perfect is also the one that saves the pie you are working on, so it suits a break that might be cut short.

Which of these games have no timer?
Mossy Stack, Book Nook Shuffle and Pie Perfect. Carrot Pop, Ghost Parade and Pillowcloud Drift play in real time, but each has a pause button in the toolbar.

Yes. Every page describes sound as optional. Carrot Pop says sound is not needed to identify targets, and Pillowcloud Drift shows a visible cue for every crumb, ring, bump, warning and finish.
