Press Start a round. Each hole is dealt from one 52-card deck: seven columns of five cards, all face up, one card to start the waste pile, and the other 16 in the stock.
Tap a column to play its bottom card onto the waste pile. It must be exactly one rank higher or lower than the waste card, in any suit: a 7 plays on a 6 or an 8. The card you play becomes the new waste card, so you can chain long runs.
Under the classic rules, Aces and Kings do not connect, and nothing plays on a King. Rules and deals offers Queen on King, or around the corner, where an Ace plays on a King and a King on an Ace.
When nothing plays, tap the stock to turn its next card onto the waste. The stock goes through once, with no redeal. The hole ends when the columns are clear, or when the stock is empty and nothing plays.
A hole scores one point for each card left in the columns. If you clear them, it scores minus one for each card still in the stock. Nine holes make a round; lower is better, and par is 45, or 5 a hole.
Controls
Touch or mouse: tap anywhere on a column to play its bottom card, tap the stock to turn a card, and use Undo, Hint and Menu on the bench at the bottom. The scorecard button sits at the top right.
Keyboard: the arrow keys move between the columns and the stock, Enter or Space plays, 1 to 7 play a column, D turns the stock, U undoes, H shows a hint and N goes on once a hole is over.
Restart in the toolbar replays the current hole from the start. Menu starts a new round, opens today’s hole and changes the rules. The toolbar also has pause, help, optional sound and fullscreen.
