What you do

Mallow Monsters happens in one warm little nook. Three marshmallow monsters, Strawberry, Lemon and Blueberry, sit on the rug and ask for a cookie, cocoa, the yarn ball, a pillow or a song. Keep them happy, and pairs whose colors make something new leave an egg that hatches a new mallow, until all twelve colors fill your book. Everything stays on one screen, with nothing hidden in menus, and the pace rises as the nook fills.

• Happy pairs hatch new colors: Strawberry and Lemon make Peach, and so on up to twelve.
• A timer to beat once the book is full, and your nook saves on this device.

How to play

1. Press Open the Nook.
2. When a mallow shows a bubble, tap the matching treat or toy. It goes to whoever asked, and the mallow gets a heart.
3. To give it to a particular mallow, tap that mallow first, then the item. The wrong item earns a frown, not a heart.
4. A treat nobody asked for, or the wrong one, makes the tray wobble: no treats for a second, a little longer for each miss in a row. The right treat steadies it.
5. Bubbles float away after a while, and as the nook fills they come faster and more at once. Answer the mallows the book needs first.
6. When two mallows have four hearts each and their colors make a mallow you don't have, they leave an egg that hatches a new color.
7. The book shows which two colors make each missing mallow. Fill all twelve to finish, then try to beat your time.

Controls

• Mouse or touch: tap a treat or toy to give it; tap a mallow first to choose who gets it.
• Keyboard: 1 to 5 give the treats, Tab to a mallow and press Enter to choose it, Escape clears your choice.
• Shared toolbar: pause, restart with confirmation, sound, instructions and fullscreen.

Tips worth knowing

• Look at the book first. Green entries can be hatched right now.
• Hearts on a mallow that has nothing left to pair with do not help. Focus on the pair you need.
• Mallows that can help hatch something new ask more often.
• Tapping treats at random wobbles the tray. Reading the bubbles is always faster.
• Parents start again at zero hearts after laying an egg.

Accessibility

• No failure states. Bubbles that expire and wrong treats only cost time.
• When the tray wobbles, its treats dim as well as shaking, and the message line says why.
• Every mallow and item is a real button with a spoken label for the mallow's hearts and what it wants.
• Wants are shown as pictures, and the book shows recipes as color dots plus names on hover.
• Full keyboard play. Pause freezes bubbles, eggs and the timer.
